Grow, Gather, Make Medicine will be a format for me to record my personal journal into the realm of human flourishing. I'm not sure what to expect along the way, and the comradery of my fellow classmates will be a welcome and appreciated learning experience!
I was first introduced to relaxation techniques in a stress management course, and have been practicing deep breathing exercise for several months. "Journey On" was, for me, a remarkable experience! It wasn't long before I began to realize each suggestion shortly before it was voiced - especially when an attempt at raising the arms was suggested...my first thought was "I'm not even going to try because I'm too relaxed"!! I was also astounded that this exercise took only fifteen minutes...I felt as though it had lasted at least a half an hour! I've heard others talk about how much they like a "power" nap. Relaxation techniques have become my personal choice for rejuvenation during the day:)
Hi Ami, I didn't want to raise my arm up either, it was very relaxing. What is the meaning behind your blog page name? I'm thinking it has something to do with herbal medicine?? Look forward to talking with you here in "blog" world.

Hi Robin! You are so right!! Herbal medicine has been my passion for the last two years, and I can't wait for my third growing season! I couldn't believe it when I found the background for my blog...dandelions are a very medicinal herb!
DeleteHi Ami! I loved the relaxation technique. It really relaxed me so much that I fell asleep! I didn't want to raise my arms either...I thought about it but decided not to haha! I like how you compared this to a power nap. I felt the same way even though I feel asleep for 5 minutes. I actually feel more awake so that I can complete more school work. Great start to your post!
ReplyDeleteHi Sara! It's funny that you fell asleep...I fell asleep the first time I attempted the deep breathing techniques in my stress management class!! As a matter of fact, I do deep breathing exercises whenever I have trouble falling asleep, and it always helps. Journey On:)
ReplyDeleteAmi- Relaxation techniques can help me when I am experiencing a day that is long or busy with too much to do. I enjoyed this activity, and it has really helped develop some more exercises that will relax me during these days! It is true what you said about falling asleep, I almost did myself. :)
